Therapeutic Advice and Information Service (TAIS) for GPs, community pharmacists and other health professionals

The Therapeutic Advice and Information Service (TAIS) is a national telephone service, providing immediate access to evidence-based information on medicines.  For the cost of a local call TAIS provides immediate access to independent drug and therapeutics information such as:

  • interactions with other drugs, foods or complementary therapies - and how to manage these;
  • side effects, especially unusual ones not included in the product information;
  • safety of drugs in pregnancy and lactation;
  • use of drugs for unlicensed indications - is there good evidence to support use?
  • information about new drugs.

Medicines Line (Consumers)

Medicines Line gives confidential information to consumers on prescription medicines, over-the-counter medicines and herbal and natural therapies.  Medicines line is not an emergency services and does not replace advice from GPs and Pharmacists.

Rational Assessment of Drugs & Research (RADAR)


Rational Assessment of Drugs and Research (RADAR) is a free, on-line service aimed at providing GPs with timely, independent information on medicines. It is primarily aimed at providing health professionals with information about new medicines and changes to PBS listings that are important to health professionals involved in primary care management of patients. Additionally, when new clinical research is published that will strongly influence how your patients' health is managed, RADAR will offer commentaries on what that research means to you and your patients.

MEDIMATE: For Medicines without the mix up

 

Medimate highlights the need for people to talk to their doctor or pharmacist about ALL their medicines - prescription, over-the-counter and complementary .

Medimate includes:
A free medicines information brochure distributed to all GP surgeries and community pharmacies to help consumers find, understand and use information about medicines. It provides space to personalise the information individuals wish to keep (eg. a medicines list).
