Alert to General Practitioners Legionellosis associated with travel to Bali

There have been two West Australians and one Victorian diagnosed recently with severe pneumonia due to infection with Legionella pneumophila (serogroup 1). All three cases were most likely infected in the central Kuta area of Bali, Indonesia.

Support for GPs Managing Pregnant Women at Risk of Domestic Violence

Influenza Management: Update to Medical Practitioners for 2010 Winter Season

KEY POINTS
There has been increased influenza activity in WA in the last few weeks, but at a level consistent with a relactively "normal" influenza season of low intensity. Around 75% of detected cases are pandemic H1N1 2009 virus.

Fremantle Hospital Paediatric Rapid Assessment & Management

The Paediatric Rapid Assessment and Management (PRAM) Unit is a new service operated out of the Fremantle Hospital paediatric ward (D4). It is a dedicated area on the paediatric ward, staffed by specialist paediatric medical and nursing staff whose aim is to provide prompt assessment and management of children with acute conditions referred by general practitioners, and who might otherwise need to be seen in hospital emergency departments.
